James Jessop - Speedway Rider

I was born in Viersen Germany in 2000 to English parents before moving to England a year later. I first watched speedway in 2005 at Swindon, as the Robins took on neighbours the Oxford Silver Machine. I was hooked instantly with Jason Crump, who at the time was the defending world champion. I continued to watch the sport until I did a few taster days at Scunthorpe and one at Leicester under Russell Paines company Ride n Slide.

I started working and bought myself a 500cc bike for the 2017 season. I competed in amatuer events winning 2 gold medals, most improved rider and a 4TT! I also signed for Weymouth Wildcats in the Southern Development League and stayed there through to the end of 2019. I joined Eastbourne for 2021 but my season was ended early due to various injuries. I now find myself at Kent for 2022.

Away from the shale I am a big fan of Huddersfield Town FC and do my best to follow them. Hopefully they can get promoted once again!

I'm also a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Karate which I use for fitness. I love being active and this is a great way to keep fit!

Aims & Goals

My main aim for 2022 is to stay injury free and continue progressing. I onow that’s a bit boring but its true! Last year was awful with 4 broken bones and a dislocated ankle. Of course injuries are a part of speedway and life, but if I can build momentum and progress without any set backs, then awesome!

I’m determined to fight for the No.1 jacket in the MSDL squad and push into the NDL with a few guest bookings.

There will be a few amatuer meetings in the calender too. It’s been awhile since i’ve brought silverwear home so i’d like some podium finishes there.

Plus, as tough as it will be, lets try and win the MSDL league with Kent!
